When we think of electric vehicles, we often picture aerodynamic sedans driven by bookish, white-collared cosmopolitans who, at most, use their vehicles to haul boxes of granola. But what about the salt-of-the-earth, blue-collared heroes who need to haul four tons of palleted concrete mix? Is there an electric vehicle for them?
Yes, there is.

Balqon Corporation, developer of medium to heavy-duty vehicles with electric drive and lithium-ion battery systems recently unveiled their new Mule M100, a zero-emissions, electric truck for inner city deliveries and cargo transportation.
With a 24-foot deck and four-ton capacity, the Mule M100 is certainly no weakling. Its brawn is also matched by its stamina. With a top speed of 70 miles per hour and ability to travel 150 miles (unloaded) and 90 miles (loaded) on a single charge, Balqon Corporation envisions the Mule M100 as the ideal vehicle for the short, daily inner-city deliveries often made by beverage and shipping trucks.
Balqon's heavy-duty electric system makes the fully automatic truck 76 percent more energy efficient than trucks in it's class. It's lithium-iron phosphate battery pack fully recharges in three hours.
