Hi Fellow Readers!
Fan fiction may have been around for decades but the term has become huge in the book world in the past few years. If you’re not familiar with it, fan fiction simply means written by a fan of, and featuring characters from, a particular TV series, movie, book, etc. In case you weren’t aware of how big a phenomenon it has become, the mega-bestselling 50 Shades of Grey trilogy derives from fan fiction featuring the Twilight series. Whether you love it or hate it, agree or disagree with the concept, find out why it has such a devoted following—and you just may realize how many of your favorite reads have its roots in fan fiction.
Also on Shelf Pleasure, author Laura Barnard shares her fabulous chick lit reading list—including one that’s tapped to be the next Bridget Jones! What better way to celebrate that spring is (finally!) in the air than with a couple of hot reads? Check out the list and don’t forget to let us know you’re favorites.

For our personal reading this week, Kristen is revisiting Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. The story of Scout and Jem and their innocent obsession with their neighbor while so many truly scary things are going on in their hometown is one of her touchstones…and she likes to reread it every year or so.
Stacy is finishing up Donna Tart’s phenomenal book, The Goldfinch. After a traumatic childhood, Theo Decker is now an adult who is drawn into a dark and dangerous underworld, the consequence of events that began on that fateful day when he was 13 years old and his mother is killed.
