• Shelf Pleasure Book Club – Week of March 17

    3-19

    Hi Fellow Readers!

Ever since we were kids, the library has been one of our favorite places. And though technology has changed the way many of us read and get our book news, the library remains a place to find fellow book lovers, get recommendations and try out new books—for free! Fellow library lover—and Shelf Pleasure contributor—Carlene Moore sums up why you shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss your local library. Tell us, when was the last time you rented a book?

If you’ve ever dreamed of working from home, make sure to check out a day in the life of author Julie Mayerson Brown as she attempts to avoid all distractions to write her next novel. Much easier said than done!

Here are the Shelf Pleasure stories not to miss this week:

For our personal reading this week, Kristen is spending time with Laura Lippman’s haunting crime novel After I’m Gone. While Kristen still hopes Lippman will bring back beloved series character Tess Monaghan one day, at least Tess has a cameo in this book. And it is hard to put down regardless, exploring how one man’s disappearance echoes through the lives of the wife, mistress, and daughters he left behind.

Stacy is just beginning The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer. The novel follows six friends, who meet in summer camp as teenagers, as they move from youth to middle age, seeking successful careers and romances—and realizing that life does not always work out the way you imagine.
